NINJA GAIDEN 3: Razor's Edge is an upcoming 2017 action game developed by Team Ninja and published by Microsoft Studios for Microsoft Windows. It is the third installment in the Ninja Gaiden series. It will be released on March 12, 2017. The game will be released in the European region on March 17, 2017, in the United States on March 20, 2017, and in the Japanese region on March 23, 2017. The game will feature all of the content of the original game as well as a new story and gameplay features.
Gameplay
Gameplay is mostly the same as in the previous Ninja Gaiden games, with a few notable differences. Gameplay in the game is similar to that of the original Ninja Gaiden, as well as the last installment in the series, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. The game features three new gameplay features: The ability to zoom in and out while holding the "Z" button, the ability to use a "Ninja Spin" as an offensive move to quickly strike an opponent from above, and the ability to immediately "Red Spirit" out of a battle.
Plot
The story of Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge begins in 1573, where Ryu Hayabusa, the main protagonist of the series, arrives at the village of Izayoi, home of the Azure Bird Clan. There, he encounters Oda Nobunaga, the primary antagonist of the series. In order to stop him, Ryu must use the blade called the Dragon Sword, which, when held by Ryu, transforms into the Air Dragon Sword. It can be held only by him, the blade's user. However, because of Ryu's training, the sword was never meant for him. At first, Ryu is unable to properly wield the weapon; however, his father explains his limitations to him, and Ryu eventually manages to defeat Nobunaga. In the end, Ryu returns to his hometown.
Reception
Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge was met with mixed reception. While many reviewers praised the game's improved graphics, some criticized it as being too similar to the original game. In their review, GameSpot stated that "Razor's Edge feels like a more refined sequel than the original." However, they pointed out that "it could have benefited from more playtesting and polish."
